Tampa General Hospital Honored as One of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women by Newsweek

Tampa General Hospital (TGH), renowned as the primary teaching hospital for the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, has secured a coveted spot on Newsweek’s prestigious 2024 list of “America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women.” This accolade recognizes TGH as one of the top 1,000 employers for women in the United States, underscoring its commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace environment.

With a focus on metrics such as compensation, work-life balance, and proactive diversity management, Newsweek’s evaluation process identified Tampa General Hospital as a standout among employers nationwide. The hospital joins an elite group of fewer than 50 Florida-based organizations honored in this year’s ranking.

John Couris, President and CEO of Tampa General, emphasized the hospital’s dedication to cultivating a culture of equity and empowerment, stating, “At Tampa General, we are committed to creating and sustaining an equitable environment that gives all team members the opportunity and the resources they need to thrive.”

Newsweek collaborated with data firm Plant-A Insights to conduct a comprehensive evaluation, incorporating feedback from HR professionals, surveys of female employees, desk research, and media monitoring. This rigorous process culminated in the identification of Tampa General Hospital as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women in 2024.

Qualenta Kivett, Executive Vice President and Chief People and Talent Officer at Tampa General Hospital, underscored the significance of the recognition, noting, “This recognition is a testament to the culture we have built and the investments we make in our team members at Tampa General.”

Tampa General Hospital has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to the advancement and development of women in the workplace, with 80 percent of its approximately 600 leaders being women. Moreover, women comprise nearly half of the hospital’s senior leadership and executive teams, reflecting a dedication to gender diversity at all levels of the organization.

In addition to providing opportunities for professional growth and advancement, Tampa General offers development programs through the TGH-USF People Development Institute (PDI), providing all team members access to university-caliber courses to support their aspirations and skill development.

Recognizing the diverse needs of its workforce, Tampa General Hospital regularly updates its compensation structure and benefits offerings based on team member feedback. From on-site daycare facilities to annual school supply giveaways and emergency funds, the hospital remains committed to supporting its employees in every aspect of their lives.
