Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon breaks 1500 meters world record for the second time during the Diamond League track and field in Paris.

Kipyegon, known for her formidable finishing kick, crossed the finish line setting the new record in history by clocking a time of 3:49.04 on Sunday, July 7th in Paris, 0.07sec faster than her previous record set in Florida in June 2023.

“I knew the world record was possible because I recently ran very fast in Kenya,” said Kipyegon, who clocked 3:53.98 at Kenya’s Olympic Trials. “I was coming here to just run my race and to see what shape I’m in to defend my title at the Olympics.”

In the men’s 800m race, Djamel Sedjati of Algeria won in 1:41.56 as Kenyan Emmanuel Wanyonyi came in second in 1:41.58 and Gabriel Tual third in a French record of 1:41.61.
